Brandon Slocumb - Bass Trombone

Dr. Brandon Slocumb is an Assistant Professor of Music at LaGrange College, directing the Band Program and teaching Music Education and Music History disciplines. Previously he taught at Samford University, Birmingham-Southern College, and Alabama A&M University. 

As a performer, Dr. Slocumb has been active in the Southeast playing the Alto, Tenor, and Bass Trombone, as well as Tuba. As a commercial artist he’s backed performers such as The Temptations, Wayne Newton, and Natalie Cole.  

Brandon earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Samford University, a master’s degree from the University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Carolina.

At UNCG he conducted extensive research in music performance anxiety and audition preparation, ultimately publishing a dissertation on the subject as it relates to brass performance. Subsequently he’s conducted many master-classes on brass fundamentals and audition preparation.
